Position Description
Performs specialized clerical and scheduling duties in support of Managed Care Operations centralized scheduling section. Employees in this position are responsible for performing varied and complex office duties that require a thorough knowledge of departmental and institutional policies and procedures, as well as medical and scientific terminology. Job descriptions are subject to change due to advances in technology, use of work force, and factors that may impact the TTUHSC's need to modify position requirements. May be responsible for supervising projects within the centralized scheduling section. Perform under pressure of deadlines

Major/Essential Functions
Engages in difficult or involved work requiring use of judgment and independent thinking to schedule patients sector-wide within the centralized scheduling team.

Performs all essential functions of centralized scheduling to include, but not limited to scheduling, chart completion, and that all required quality metrics (Access to Care, etc.) are accomplished.

Completes audits of reminders on a recurring or as requested basis.

Provides effective communication between centralized scheduling and unit staff. Responds to centralized scheduling questions and issues from unit staff in a timely manner.

Ensures centralized scheduling/PTM data and works closely with units in performance maintenance and overall coordination for optimal unit clinical workflow.

Specialty consult requests/approvals/deferrals are entered into EMR program as reminders.

May travel to Managed Care facilities to perform training, internal audits, and verify that the centralized scheduling processes are met when appropriate. Coordinates with unit leadership and clinic flow staff to ensure compliance.

Other duties as required for organizational and departmental effectiveness for Managed Care.

Required Qualifications
Education:  A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:  One (1) year of customer service, office or related experience required. Additional education may substitute for the experience requirement.
