Position Description
This position is responsible for assuring smooth operation of the clinic patient flow. Employees serve as primary contacts for patients and are responsible for scheduling appointments, preparing necessary paperwork before the patient visits, receiving patients, and maintaining records. In addition, this position is responsible for processing charges for clinic services, filing insurance claims, responding to requests for information from patients and insurance companies and maintaining related information for the department. Employees may have cash handling responsibilities.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Supports Values Based Culture of Texas Tech
  • Adheres to Institutional and departmental safety policies and procedures
  • Facilitates clinics and assists Psychiatrist/NP/PA with clinics
  • Manage Mental Health reminders in EMR and chart completions
  • For intake units establish initial mental health evaluation intake reminders for offenders identified in the mental health appraisal process.
  • Answers phones, relays accurate messages and screens calls for clinicians.
  • Track numbers and complete various reports, including but not limited to: Access to Care, MH Monthly Activity Report, Suicide Screener Report, MH OP Staffing, Missed Clinic Report
  • Admit and discharge offenders in the Patient Throughput System.
  • Schedules/Scheduling
  • Completes daily reminder audit and ensures all reminders are properly assigned and or dispositioned.
  • Submit and reconcile supply orders
  • Collects and immediately disseminates all emergent referrals to assigned clinical staff
  • Regional Clerical Support

Required Qualifications
Education:  A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
