Position Description
This position is responsible for performing dental prophylactic services and providing education for the prevention and control of dental disease. Work is performed under supervision of dentist. Work is performed in usual clinic conditions; requires a high degree of contact with patients.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Professionally clean teeth.
  • Administer fluoride.
  • Instruct on proper personal oral hygiene.
  • Take digital radiographs.
  • Comply with TDCJ and TTUHSC policy and procedures including all necessary paperwork.
  • Disinfect work environment.
  • Take inventory of instruments with proper documentation as it occurred.
  • Proper record keeping and maintenance.
  • Answer sick calls
  • Compile and submit reports
  • Ensure dental supplies are on hand and ordered in a timely manner.
  • Serve as dental assistant.

Required Qualifications
+Education:+ A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent. Completion of an approved dental hygiene training program. +License/Certification:+ Licensed to practice dental hygiene by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners. +Experience:+ One year of experience in dental hygiene.
