Position Description
Performs advanced level social work. Supervises lower level clinical social workers and/or ancillary staff.

Major/Essential Functions
Provides individual and group­counseling/therapy to patients receiving psychiatric services. Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team. Assists patients with release planning.

Communication: Communicates with team members and supervisor in a timely manner utilizing direct, complete, and adequate information.­ Communicates in a respectful manner.­ Addresses problems with person directly involved or their supervisor exclusively.­ Receives and is open to constructive feedback.­ Seeks feedback from others to improve safety and clinical practice.

Treatment Team: Dependability - on time for treatment team, arranges coverage, notifies team members of absences.­ Scheduling - Patient's ITP's are reviewed based on timeframes stipulated in current policies and pertaining to release planning.­ Contribution - reports relevant information regarding O/P's functional status and psychiatric status makes appropriate referrals, knowledgeable of group therapy.­ Coordination - assists in the interviewing of O/P's and other staff members using professional and assertive verbal/non-verbal communication.­ Preparedness - arrives with necessary materials to complete individualized Treatment Plans and special staffing notes.­ Reports relevant information.

Monitoring (Row Round) and Assessment (Psychosocial Evaluation): Staff member monitors each offender patient prior to a tx team review.­ Required documentation is noted in the medical record. Meets standards for quality,­ quantity, time frames as set by supervisor and team. Staff member conducts a patient interview on or before the
10th work day after the date of admission. The psychosocial evaluation and all corresponding documentation are
completed per policy/supervisory directive. Adheres to clinical and security procedures when conducting row rounds and psychosocial evaluations.

Case Management Tasks: Responds to I-60's in accordance to existing policies. Responds to family calls per policy and using required forms. Documents family calls in the medical record. Completes release planning tasks including necessary communication and paperwork in a timely manner and according to policy and procedure. Manages treatment team referrals in timely and appropriate manner. Manages referrals to Skyview and specialized programs in a timely and appropriate manner.

Demonstrates knowledge of therapeutic approach and creates and maintains positive therapeutic environment.­ Maintains professional, therapeutic boundaries.­ Adheres to established guidelines for individual and group demographics.­ Adheres to established guidelines for individual and psychosocial educational groups.

Clinical Documentation and Correspondence: Documents using legible handwriting and/or appropriate forms in the EMR, professional language, supports clinical assessment with objective information/observation, and avoids jargon.­ Follows policy and procedure for group therapy documentation, row rounds, clinical notes (i.e. SOAP notes), for care plan, and for I-60's.

Attends/participates/completes training required to meet requirements set forth by TTUHSC, TDCJ and TSBSWE.

Effective Use of technology Demonstrates knowledge and ability to document, research and communicate effectively using the Electronic Medical Record, Microsoft Office Programs, TDCJ Host on Demand and programs/operations utilized by CMHC and TTUHSC.

Additional Tasks: Participates in committees or teams in order to enhance or create programs at the PAMIO CMI Unit.­ Participation in unit programs for staff security safety and support.­ Supervision of BSW students.­ Presentation or leadership in statewide or national professional organizations or conferences.­ Presentations for classes at local universities.­ Serves as certified Spanish speaking interpreter if TDCJ certification is secured.

Other tasks as assigned.


Required Qualifications
+Education:+ A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree (B. A.) from an approved accredited four-year college or university in a behavioral science. +License/Certification:+ Credentialed as a Certified Social Worker.

Preferred Qualifications

Is Licensed as an LBSW in the state of Texas. Has experience working with people who are­mentally ill. Has experience working in a correctional setting. Is able to effectively communicate in writing and verbally. Is capable of working on several tasks simultaneously and does so according to designated time frames and level of importance.

Employee is able to interact with people of all cultures, social economic backgrounds and educational levels.­ Understands and recognizes psychological, emotional and physical boundaries and practices in accordance with that knowledge and understanding.­ Is able to work in accordance with the standards of TTUHSC, CMHC, TDCJ, and TSBSWE.­ Verbal and written communication is effective in the completion of clinical and administrative job tasks.­ Demonstrates an interest and ability to build upon existing skills and knowledge to enhance their professional growth and development, i.e. by accepting and using constructive criticism, seeking out training opportunities, etc.
